New York Post

The New York Post is a historic American daily newspaper founded in 1801 by Alexander Hamilton. Over its long history, it has undergone numerous ownership changes and shifts in editorial style. In the mid-20th century, it was known for its liberal tilt under owner Dorothy Schiff, who helped establish its modern tabloid format. The paper was purchased by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation in 1976, marking a shift to a more sensationalist style and conservative editorial stance.

After briefly selling it in 1988 due to regulatory requirements, Murdoch repurchased the paper in 1993, where it has remained under his family's control, maintaining its reputation for bold headlines, political commentary, and its gossip column Page Six. Despite fluctuating profitability and criticism, it remains one of the most widely recognized tabloids in New York with significant influence in American media.
